DIY: Television stand to dominate your livingroom

Decided to de-IKEAze my livingroom and after looking long and hard for a suitable replacement for my then current TV stand, I started to like the idea of creating my own. I browsed through the internets for ideas and got one including just wood and stone - how rural!

Obviously, first you need to do a bit of thinking and decide the kind of stand you want to make. I started from another direction, tho, and found the wood first.

I had an idea of the overall layout and sketched it with my super drawing skills.

Then the base. What would be better and sturdier than building blocks? Concrete! I still made it from the blocks..

So, next step is to start piling up the blocks and the wood to see what it's really going to look like. I also made room for six wine bottles to have an integrated red wine cellar inside the stand.

Then, if you're like me, you're going to lose your mind with power cords, adapters, audio cables, etc.

But in the end you'll have your proof of concept ready.

I liked what I saw but wanted more color so I took the stand apart and painted it to match other parts of my livingroom.

And then put it together again.

I also had some LED lights lying around and decided to put them to use. Easier to spot the need for new red wine, you know.

The end result is really something I like. While putting it together for the first time, I realized that the cables won't fit well between the stand and wall so I took the stand slightly away from the wall and little to the right. Just worth noting since you really don't just move this around.

Anyways, this is what is looks like now.

I still need to sort out the wires and cables behind just to remain sane, but that's going to happen "later".
